Achachairdeis

Welcome to Achachairdeis!

Set in the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, Girlguiding Glasgow’s campsite is the perfect location for fun and adventure. Located only 20 miles out of Glasgow, it’s easy to get to as well!

Our Story

The Gaelic name, Achachairdeis, means “Field of Friendship”.  We chose the name as the perfect fit for the campsite, which is an excellent setting for groups of all ages to have fun, learn and make new friends.

About the site

This 16-acre estate, in the small village of Gartocharn, provides both indoor residential and outdoor camping opportunities just minutes from the shores of Loch Lomond with stunning views up to Ben Lomond and beyond. The site is suitable for all sections and age groups looking for overnight accommodation or longer stays.

Achachairdeis offers a secluded, peaceful and idyllic setting for your adventure, either under canvas or in your choice of indoor accommodation. With plenty of activities on site and in the surrounding areas you’ll be spoilt for choice.

After a hectic day of activities, get the campfire blazing and look up to the stars – they are out of this world! With very little light pollution, on a clear night, you can see almost every star in the sky, it’s not to be missed.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Field of Friendship!

LOCAL OPTIONS

Within Gartocharn, the Village Shop and Post Office could well be described as “the hub of the village”. Although small and compact the shop is very well stocked, selling a version of almost anything! There are particularly delicious biscuits which are very hard to walk past! Newspapers, magazines and cards are also stocked along with daily newspapers.

Opening hours are Monday-Sunday 6am-7pm. Telephone: 01389 830201

If cooking is not your strong point or you want to add a bit of fun to your weekend, McDonald’s is located in Balloch along with many other options including Chinese or fish & chips. Many local takeaways offer delivery to the site. Please remember to dispose of food and containers in the most environmentally friendly way you can.
