Unfortunately, due to the current situation with COVID-19, all bookings up until end of June have been cancelled. If you have a booking, these can be refunded or transferred to a new date. All further bookings will be reviewed on a month to month basis in line with government guidelines. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

The campsite is a great natural environment for groups to enjoy, there are endless possibilities for things to do at the campsite or in the local area. Have a look at the details below to plan your trip. Of course, you’re also welcome to bring your own equipment on site, such as mobile abseiling, crazy golf, assault courses, you could even hire bubble football, there’s plenty of space!

Onsite Activities

We have a range of games equipment including bats and balls, base markers, and ropes. There are also some fun games like giant Connect4 and Giant Jenga, plus a number of activities to encourage team work.

Of course, some of the best activities the campsite has to offer onsite are the simplest:

Stargazing: the campsite is an area of limited light meaning that the stars are “out of this world”. Take a look at these articles here and here for some of our suggested stargazing apps. Have you looked at our Stargazing site?
Walk to Loch Lomond: a 10 minute walk, longer with Brownies & Rainbows, takes you to Loch Lomond shores and woods. Follow our map and you won’t get lost!
Wide Games: Due to the size and security of the site, wide games and treasure hunts are great – even more fun with a torch at night!
Outdoor Cooking: On the campsite we have fire altars available for open cooking, so why not hold a campfire under the stars? It’s an opportunity not to be missed. Find new recipe suggestions on Pinterest here and here.
Escape Tent: Heard of Escape Rooms? Well we can supply everything you need to have an Escape tent! Let the Team know when you book your accommodation and we can organise it for you.
Geocaching: It’s a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. Find out all you need to know here and see if you can find any geocache hidden in the surrounding area of the Campsite or hide your own!
Orienteering: Put your navigation skills to the test! The campsite is the perfect place for an orienteering adventure so grab your map and your compass and get started!

Out & About

If you feel like getting offsite, there’s lots to choose from near & further afield.

The village of Gartocharn has a shop and play area which are within easy walking distance, great for a scavenger or treasure hunt on the way there! The site is also only a short walk from the Loch where a small pebble beach awaits; no swimming in the Loch is permitted.

Auchengillan Scout Camp is approx. 15 minutes away and offers many activities. For smaller groups the team will come and collect you by minibus. Get in touch with them here.

Exploring the National Park

For those wanting to explore further the campsite makes an ideal base for exploring the National Park. To find out more about activities, download a map of the park or access educational resources for your trip, take a look at the ‘Discover the park’ section of the park’s website here.

Duncryne Equitation & Trekking Centre, run by Mari-Claire Doyle, is close by and groups of 6 can be accommodated at each time. For more information or to book with Mari-Claire, take a look at her website here.

Duncryne Hill affectionately known as ‘The Dumpling’ is available to walk if leaders have the necessary walking qualifications. Check the Girlguiding UK website here, or contact your local Outdoor Adviser if you are unsure what these are.

RSPB Loch Lomond is close to site and can be contacted for activities. Go visit the Nature hub and find out more about the birds in the local area – group bookings and information on the site can be found here.

Loch Lomond Shores Based Activities

The site is 10 minutes by car from the lochside town of Balloch so why not visit Loch Lomond Shores? The centre offers outdoor and indoor activities including canoeing, pedalos, the Birds of Prey Centre, Segways, high ropes course and lots more. Find out more or book your activities here.
