Division Diaries – November 2017
Thanks to everyone who attended the Training Day on Saturday 4th November. It was great to see a good turnout from North East Division and I hope you all came away with some new ideas about the forthcoming new programme.
I am pleased to say that Elaine Shaw is now officially Assistant Division Commissioner and we can both be contacted on the email northeast@girlguidingglasgow.org.uk
The next Division meeting will be on Monday 13th November at 7.30pm in Barmulloch Community Centre, 46 Wallacewell Quadrant, Glasgow G21 3PX. In response to requests from Guiders we will be discussing the new GO system, and hopefully will be able to sort out any problems you may be experiencing with the system.
I look forward to seeing you all then.
All the best

Evenings are getting darker and the weather seems a lot fresher as we move from Autumn into Winter. Personally I would love to shut the door of an evening and hibernate but Guiding certainly keeps giving me opportunities to get out and about-3 special events happening this month.
Glasgow Celebrates : I would like to remind you our Annual Review is being held in the City Chambers, Glasgow on Wednesday 22nd November at 7.30pm. Come along and support all our award winners and speakers.
Rainbows 30th Party : Our Division Birthday Party is being held in Cathcart Church Halls on Wednesday 29th November, 6.30pm – 8.00pm. All Rainbow Leaders should have all required information. We would be pleased if you would like to join us and celebrate with some of our youngest members.
Our next Division event will be our Thanks and Recognition evening being held in The Haven at Cathcart Old Parish Church on Tuesday 5th December, 7.30pm – 9.00pm. If you haven’t already done so, please reply so we have an idea of numbers to cater for.
I look forward to catching up with you all at one or more of the events.
I hope this message finds you all well and enjoying a great term with your girls. Guiding in South Division is growing – 502 girls last year, 560 when I checked yesterday and that has to be down to the wow experiences you are all giving the girls – so thank you !
I had the pleasure of visiting our Rainbow 30th Birthday party on Saturday and it was wonderful to see so many girls having a great time – a huge thanks to Ailsa and her team for all their meticulous planning.
Our Division Silent Disco is on 7th December in Newlands South Church. The Brownie Disco is full but we could still squeeze in some guides – its safe to come – the Seniors are planning the music – not me!
Finally congratulations to Tori Norton and Mick on the birth of their son, Redmond, on 31st October – both are doing well
Regards

Hi all,
Thanks to all who attended the training day last Saturday. It was a great event which covered information about the new program, ideas for bringing adventure into the unit, coping with challenging behaviour and making Guiding accessible, amongst many other things. We’ll cover the new program at a future division meeting but all the information is available on Girlguiding’s website so feel free to go in and have a look yourself in the meantime.
We’re planning on having a division camp next year, and are looking for volunteers to form a working group to organise it. Please let us know if you are interested.
The division meeting on Friday 1st December will be a social event. Details are still being confirmed so watch your emails and facebook for an update.
There are still lots of spaces for the BAE systems event – this is a wonderful opportunity for the girls and it would be a shame if we didn’t manage to fill the spaces. If anyone isn’t applying because their leaders can’t make it but feel their girls would enjoy it, or are struggling with transport, let us know and we can always make arrangements.
Thanks,
Lynn & Karen |southwest@girlguidingglasgow.org.uk
