Division Diaries – March 2017
North Division
Hope everyone enjoyed their thinking day celebrations.
Could I ask that if you have not send off your yearly subscriptions that you do
so now. It would be nice if our division could be showing as paid in full If anyone
has a problem please speak to your District Commissioner.
Helping Hands are available from an experienced guider. Janice Landels (formerly
Of 207th) has offered to help out to cover sickness, holidays etc. if a unit is
short of a guider then Janice may be able to help. Janice is a fully qualified leader and has offered to help out within our Division. Janice can be contacted on janicelandels@hotmail.co.uk
Safe Space Training
Everyone is now being asked to attend a safe space training. I am looking at the
possibility of arranging a midweek training for our Division. If you have not
attended a safe space training please try and attend. I will confirm a date as
soon as possible.
Thank you to everyone for helping run great units for our girls Without volunteers
our Division would not be where it is today
Have a good Easter break

Hope you all had a lovely time celebrating Thinking Day with your units
We have 3 leaders in the Division who have completed their Leadership this month, congratulations to Aimee McNeilly,Heather Angus, and Caitlin Muir.
Congratulations to the 222nd Guide Company who celebrated their 85th Birthday last weekend with a party for past and present members followed by a service of Thanksgiving on the Sunday.
Cathleen has the final numbers now for Blair Drummond and l am delighted to say we are taking almost 300 Rainbows, Brownies and Guides, with 40 Guides sleeping over 🙂
By now you should have collected in your units subscription for the year and hopefully be in a position to send your cheque away with your invoice, any unit not in this position please contact me. If you require a Division cheque please arrange to get your money to me along with your invoice and l will arrange for the cheque to sent.
Our next Division meeting will be on Thursday 23rd March in St Pauls, starting at 8pm. This will be a no cook, cooking/baking night with lots of ideas to take back to your unit, we have arranged for Agnes Lafferty to come along so l’d appreciate your support as usual. Can Leaders in Training bring their books along and l can see what we can do to help get you signed off.
Everyones favourite time of year is fast approaching again, yep accounts will be due to be closed off at the end of March, this should be an easier job for us all this year but again any issues please let me know so we can help, l don’t want any leader getting bogged under with them.
Please remember if you are taking your girls out with the unit meeting place to let your District Commissioner know and remember your emergency contact
Look forward to seeing you all at the Division meeting

Thanks to everyone who attended the Division Meeting on 1st February – it was good to see some new faces. Notes from the meeting will be emailed out later this week – it would have been sooner but I am having technology issues at the moment!
Next month, instead of a business meeting we will be having a Division night out on Saturday 11th March. We are planning to go for a meal, and the most popular suggestion for a venue was the Nakodar Grill in Annfield Place, just off Duke Street in Dennistoun. If you could please let me know as soon as possible whether or not you can come along, I will book a table and send round more information.
Can I remind District Commissioners and those working on the Adult Leadership Qualification to sign up for the Regional Training Day on 18th March if you can, and wish all those going to the Thinking Day event on 18th February a wonderful time.
Meantime I hope to see some of you at the Safe Space training on 11th February.
All the best

Thanks to all who attended our Februarys Division Meeting, must be a record attendance. It was a busy meeting with lots of healthy discussion.
I hope you all had great Thinking Day Celebrations whether you participated in the County one or whether you celebrated locally. Thanks to everyone who helped deliver the County event. It was great to see so many of our young members wearing their uniform to school with pride and eager anticipation to tell anyone who listened what Guiding was all about, what a fantastic PR opportunity.
Thank you for getting your Go records up to date and hopefully we can all get our Annual Subscriptions paid in good time. Anyone having difficulty in printing off their invoice, let me know and I will do it for you.

I hope you are all well and starting to enjoy the lighter nights.
The main focus of my attention at present is our trip to Dalguise on 17th March. Coaches have now been organised and we will have two leaving from Merrylee Road and two from Moss-side Road. Hopefully by the time you read this you will have been given details of which bus number you are on. All of the coaches are almost full so it is important that your girls are on the correct one! Lanyards giving the girls details of their accommodation/ activity group etc will be distributed on the coaches which should ease the chaos on arrival!
Those of you intending to go to the Safari Park/Heads of Ayr/ Five Sisters should let us know your final numbers no later than the closing date on the website so that we can organise the coaches.
Jacqui emailed out asking if people wanted us to organise a local safe from harm training – while we have had a few responses there is not so far enough to do this – if you would be interested ( remembering everyone has to do this training) please respond so that we can approach trainers.

Thanks to everyone who attended the February Meeting which included a very informative session from Gemma Murray on Risk Assessment. Feedback on the session would be very welcome.
Next month’s meeting will take place on Monday 20th March in Guide Headquarters. This will be a “tech session” so if you need help with Join Us, Go, Facebook, accounts or accessing the web please come along.
Congratulation to Rene Scott who received her 30 year service award. Now that’s commitment! Congratulations also go to Rebecca Shearer of the 292nd Co. for achieving her Chief Guide Challenge. Rebecca joins Chelsey Brown and Gemma McArthur who received their Chief Guide Challenge at the AGM in November.
Reminder time! – Census payments to be made in full by 13 April. Accounts will be hot on our heels following this so please make sure you are prepared.

Well I cannot believe that we are now into March!
Thanks to those who have handed in their Annual Census as I write this we have more than half of the division monies received which is fantastic.
As we all know hot on the heals of the Annual Census is the Annual Accounts. Emma and I will be happy to take these from the beginning of May we would like to have the accounts all completed by the end of May. This will allow you to obtain your April Bank Statement. If you are having any difficulty with them please let me know. Remember if you are registered with OSCR to print a second copy.
Thanks to Heather and her crew for bringing together our Division Thinking Day Event the girls all enjoyed it.
Remember to check the County Eventbrite for up and coming County Events.
March is a busy month for Weddings within our Division on behalf of the Division we would like to wish Jennifer & Donald and Lauren & Scott all the best for their up and coming Weddings.
No Division meeting this month the next one will be in May.
Have a great month.

By the time you read this newsletter census invoices will be live. Could everyone please ensure that this payment is paid promptly.
Please remember to let me know numbers of girls and leaders attending county events this summer by the end of March so that we can get division transport organised.
Congratulations to the girls from 15th Brownie pack who gained their hostess badge while undertaking a fundraising social. The girls managed to raise £240 during this event.
Our next division meeting will be held in Jordanhill Church on Monday 20th March.
