Set in the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, our campsite is the perfect place for a weekend of fun and adventure. Located only 20 miles out of Glasgow, it’s easy to get to as well!
Achachairdeis in Gaelic means “Field of Friendship”, we chose the name as the perfect fit for the campsite, which is an excellent setting for groups of all ages to have fun, learn and make new friends.
This 16-acre estate, in the small village of Gartocharn, provides both indoor residential and outdoor camping opportunities just minutes from the shores of Loch Lomond with stunning views up to Ben Lomond and beyond. The site is suitable for Rainbows visiting for the day or for Brownies, Guides, Leaders, and Trefoil looking for overnight or longer accommodation.
The centre offers a secluded, peaceful and idyllic setting for your adventure be it under canvas or in your choice of indoor accommodation. With plenty of activities on-site and in the surrounding areas you’ll be spoilt for choice.
After a hectic day of activities, get the campfires blazing and look up to the stars – they are out of this world! With very little light pollution, on a clear night, you can see almost every star in the sky, it’s not to be missed.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Field of Friendship!
If you’re planning on organising a large scale event, we can provide details of suppliers for infrastructure ie catering, marquees, toilets etc. Please get in touch with our team for more information.
The local Tesco, Co-op and Asda shops will deliver to the campsite. Simply add “Townhead of Aber” to the delivery address, this will prevent your shopping from being sent to the public campsite. Note we are on the opposite side of Ross Priory.
Within Gartocharn the Village Shop and Post Office could well be described as “the hub of the village”. Although small and compact the shop is very well stocked, selling a version of almost anything! There are particularly delicious biscuits which are very hard to walk past! Newspapers, magazines and cards are also stocked and a lot of the villagers have a regular order for their daily newspaper. Opening Hours are: Monday – Sunday 06.00 – 19.00 Telephone: 01389 830201
If cooking is not your strong point or you want to add a bit of fun to your weekend, McDonald’s is located in Balloch along with many other options including Chinese or Fish and chips. Many local takeaways offer delivery to the site. Please remember to dispose of food and containers as environmentally friendly as you can.
On Friday’s until 17:00 the village has a farmer’s market – items can be delivered to the campsite before you arrive. Take a look at the website here for more information or call 01389 830239 or 07909 574405 to make an order.
